I can’t even put to words what I’m feeling right now. I can’t really express myself how I’d want to... Friday, March 6th at 9:30am I lost my love, my rock, my inspiration, my motivation, my role model, my second father, my abuelito. (He would have been 90 years old March 12th, 2020.) His name was Gregorio Morales. My mother and I moved to Mexico when I was 3-5 months old. He raised me, loved me, took care of me as his own child. He taught me what real unconditional love was. He taught me principles, values and the importance of familia. He was a protector. He lead by example. My grandfather taught me to work hard for mine and mines, to go after my dreams (him having to cross the boarder at 17 to pursue his American dream...), never take no for a answer and to always give back. He was the most humble, selfless, independent, and full of life human being. The impossible was always possible for him. He brought his entire family to the USA. At 81 he became a U.S. citizen. He had the BEST outlook in life - I know I inherited that from him. A believer; faithful. Always looked ahead, never looked back. Those who got to meet him have nothing but great things to say about him. He was a people’s person. Treated everyone with the same respect. A piece of me is gone forever, but I am grateful and thankful with the lord to have had the opportunity to be his “Chiquita” until his last breath. I’m lucky to have had the strongest man, smartest man, bravest man, as my grandfather/father figure for my 25 years of life. He lived a full life with infinite stories to tell! I’m gonna miss that too. It saddens me that he is no longer here to joke around with, laugh with, have morning/midday/night “chanate” ☕️ with (he loved his “chanate” his personal lingo for coffee) but I will always carry the great memories we shared together.
